School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Tal Cohen is a post-doctoral fellow at the Harvard's John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, where she is working under the joint mentoring of MRSEC faculty members, Katia Bertoldi and Lakshminarayanan Mahadevan. Tal received both her M.Sc. and Ph.D. at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the Technion in Israel, under the supervision of David Durban before coming to M.I.T. to complete a post-doctoral program with Rohan Abeyaratne, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Her current research is broadly aimed at understanding the nonlinear mechanical behavior and constitutive sensitivity of solids through analytical investigation. This includes behavior under extreme loading conditions, involving propagation of shock waves and dynamic cavitation, material instabilities, and growth.
