School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Naveen Sinha is a fifth-year PhD Candidate in Applied Physics in the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Physics in 2007, before doing biophysics research at the National University of Singapore. After ten months on the island, he started graduate school at Harvard in 2008 and soon afterwards began an interdisciplinary project to understand the growth of bacterial biofilms, with Prof. Dave Weitz and Prof. Michael Brenner.

In the Fall of 2010 he was the Head Teaching Fellow for the inaugural "Science and Cooking: From Haute Cuisine to Soft Matter Science" course for Harvard undergraduates. He has continued to help with course development, including creating lecture slides for the Fall 2011 class, mentoring four students through independent research projects in the Spring of 2012, and now developing an on-line interactive website to explain the key topics in the curriculum. Recently, he was the science coordinator for the "Science and Cooking for Kids" program at Harvard University and continues to pursue new endeavors at the intersection of soft matter physics, cooking, and education.
