Harvard MRSEC Researchers named 2025 Highly Cited Researchers

Highly Cited Researchers in several categories, including Cross-Field

December 1, 2025

Congratulations to eight Harvard MRSEC researchers within the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). They were nominated with the Highly Cited Researchers™ from Clarivate™ in the biology/biochemistry, cross-field, engineering, and materials science categories.

Clarivate identifies individual researchers within the sciences and social scientists fields, and those who demonstrated significant and broad influence in their ESI field(s) (Essential Science Indicators™) of research. There are 22 ESI field categories, which includes the Cross-Field category.

A total of 7,131 Highly Cited Researchers™ was awarded to 6,868 individuals. Nominations for 2025 work in 60 countries where 83.8% researchers are from 10 countries. Harvard University holds the #1 rank in the United States of 46 global universities where researchers are mostly cited, and also have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their ESI field(s) of research. Clarivate compiles a list to honor researchers with a Citation Laureate every year, which many Harvard MRSEC researchers are selected every year. Of the world's population of scientists and social scientists, Highly Cited Researchers™ equates to 1 researcher in 1,000 researchers globally.

Highly Cited Researchers in the field of Cross-Field for 2025

Four MRSEC @ Harvard University researchers have been named as Highly Cited Researcher 2025 in the Cross-Field category. This is the eighth year that identifies researchers with the Cross-Field impact, those who contribute multiple highly cited papers in several different fields, but would not register enough highly cited papers in one single ESI field to be considered for a single selection.

The recognition of these researchers keeps our list contemporary and relevant with those who work at the intersection of different scientific or scholarly domains. This small fraction of the global researcher population contributes to extending the frontiers of knowledge and gaining for society innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable and more secure.
