Soft-Matter Day Workshops
initiated in China

As Harvard MRSEC alumni have moved to other institutions, new soft-matter workshops, spawned from the original and ongoing quarterly New England Complex Fluids meetings (NECF, www.complexfluids.org), have been initiated across the nation, including upstate New York, New York City, Penn, Washington DC, and Atlanta. These community building workshops have become international with the Swiss Soft Days now held three times a year in Switzerland bringing together the academic and industrial communities there (swisssoftdays.ethz.ch). This effort is even reaching Asia: The first annual Soft Matter Day in China, again initiated by Harvard-MRSEC alumni, was held in Guangzhou in June of 2012.
