New TA Discovery Rheometers

The Harvard MRSEC recently acquired two HR-3 Discovery rheometers (above) through a development agreement with TA instruments. The HR-3 instruments allow direct strain, direct strain-rate, and direct stress control in making mechanical measurements. Researchers at the MRSEC have been at the leading edge in mechanical testing work in many soft matter material systems. Center researchers have given training courses on new techniques developed at the MRSEC across the nation to the wider user community.
