TA OSP-ARES-G2 Rheometer

The Center recently acquired an OSP-ARES-G2 rheometer through a development agreement with TA Instruments. The ARES-G2 instrument expands the Center's strain-controlled rheological testing; the dual-head motion enables orthogonal straining along the axial direction superimposed on conventional rotational strain, and can probe both non-linear and non-anisotropic response. The Center has been at the leading edge of mechanical testing work for many soft matter material systems and Harvard researchers have given training courses on techniques developed at the MRSEC to the wider user communities.
